Care in the community - Doreen

Doreen has been receiving care and support from Complete Care since 2017.

My daughter was worried about me and she wanted me to live closer to her, so that she was able to keep an eye on me, as I was falling a lot. It got to the point where I could not manage and after discussing care with my daughter we looked into the possibility of having care at home. At first I couldn't believe that I needed help but I knew that I had to accept it, what I didn't know is the positive difference it was going to make. If my daughter had not contacted Complete Care I don't know what I would have done. I must admit that I felt a little apprehensive of who would be coming into my home, but once I met the team, they reassured me and put my mind at ease.

Since my husband died, I wanted to stay at home and remain as independent as possible, by having Complete Care I was able to do that.

We knew that Complete Care had a good reputation, my daughter had heard good things about them. Since I started receiving visits from them it has made a big difference to my life. I have a lovely relationship with all the girls who come to visit, we always have a good chat. Once the care was in place my daughter started to feel a lot happier, as she knows I am getting looked after now, it gives her piece of mind as she worries about me.

All my ladies are marvelous, Complete Care has a great group of people working for them. If there are others like me who are looking at receiving care, I would say it is the best thing you could do. Especially as the care staff have become more like friends to me.

Care in the community - Katie

Katie has been receiving care and support from Complete Care since 2021.

I have Cerebral Palsy Quadriplegia, which means I struggle with my mobility, meal preparation, and personal daily tasks. I need support from care professionals to allow me to remain at home and live as independently as possible.

I started receiving care around four years ago, and over time I was supported by several different companies. However, the visiting times just never suited me. It didn’t work around my routine and left me feeling frustrated.

In January 2024, I moved over to Complete Care West Yorkshire and increased my care to four visits a day. I was hesitant at first, but it’s so much better than trying to manage on my own and putting unnecessary pressure on myself.

I love the carers as I would friends and family and so does Ziggy, my cat. The staff make me laugh and I feel truly supported. They help me remain as independent as possible. While there are times I feel down because I don’t want to rely on the care system, the carers feel more like family now. I’m 100% happy with my decision to have full-time care.

What’s brought me real peace is knowing that I’m still in control, still in my own home, and still living life on my terms. That’s 100% worth it.

I’ve recommended Complete Care West Yorkshire many times. Your care is amazing, it’s very person-centred and totally different from my previous experience. It’s easy to make changes to my care and visits when needed. You’ve worked around my constraints and have always been supportive.

You keep me as independent as possible by respecting my routine and encouraging me to manage my own daily tasks like brushing my teeth, self-care, and activities. You don’t just provide care, you empower me.

Complete Care West Yorkshire makes me feel safe, supported, and secure.

Care in the community - John

John has been receiving care and support from Complete Care since 2024.

My husband John had a stroke, which is why he now needs full-time care and support. As John’s wife, I used to manage all of his medication, drinks, and meals on my own.

I first heard about Complete Care West Yorkshire from a friend who said the service was fantastic and well worth the money. We began receiving care in December 2024. John requires four care visits a day to support him with personal care, toileting assistance, and catheter care. The care workers are so attentive, they carryout thorough personal care checks, support with continence and dressing, which gives me peace of mind.

We also have night sits three times a week, along with a couple of day sits to give me a break. I’d definitely be interested in using the special occasions service for family weddings, it’s such a thoughtful option to have.

I’ve attended the moving and handling training offered by Complete Care West Yorkshire, which has helped me feel confident in moving John safely with the equipment we have. It felt strange at first having care workers in the house, but now I really look forward to their visits. I’ve even learnt a few words of Shona from some of the Zimbabwean care workers, everyone has a different story to tell. They all support John in their own way, but always with the same goal: to meet his needs.

I couldn’t be more thankful for the care team. They’ve been incredibly quick-thinking and calm during times when John needed emergency services. They’ve stayed by our side to make sure both John and I are okay, ensuring he receives the medical attention he needs while also offering me comfort and reassurance.

I would recommend Complete Care West Yorkshire to anyone. The care workers are well-trained, discreet, cheerful, competent, and a genuinely lovely bunch of people. They brighten up the day – especially when things feel tough. For anyone considering community care services, I can say it really does take the pressure off, particularly for family members who need and deserve a break.

The care workers are also incredibly supportive of me. On the days I feel low, they’re there to chat, make a cup of tea, or even tidy up around the house.

Thank you to all of the team – your support means the world to us.

Care in the community - Rosemary

Rosemary has been receiving care and support from Complete Care since 2010.

I’ve been receiving home care from Complete Care West Yorkshire since 2010, after I had a stroke which affected my mobility and left me unable to walk. I needed specialist equipment, including an electric hoist, to help me in and out of bed and my chair.

When I first started receiving care, my main needs were support with personal care, dressing, and companionship. My husband cooked my meals and gave me my medication, so the care workers helped fill in the gaps and supported us as a team.

Over the years, the care team have supported me in so many ways. One moment that really stands out is when Complete Care West Yorkshire began supporting not just me, but my husband too. We both looked forward to the care workers’ visits, they always arrived with their smiley, bubbly faces and a kind word.

In 2024, my husband became seriously ill. It was an incredibly difficult time, but the care workers stepped in and made sure he was as comfortable as possible, right up until the day he passed away. That’s what truly puts the “care” in Complete Care.

I honestly couldn’t manage without the support of my care workers now. They’ve made such a difference to my quality of life. I’m still able to make my own choices, enjoy my TV programmes, and feel in control of my day-to-day life. I would 10000% recommend Complete Care West Yorkshire – they are the best team in the world!

Care in the community - Lynda

Lynda has been receiving care and support from Complete Care since 2017.

I live with cerebral palsy and osteoporosis, and I use a wheelchair. Because of my condition, I need support throughout the day with tasks like getting ready in the morning, personal care, showering, and dressing, as well as help at night to get undressed and into bed.

I’ve had other care providers in the past, but I’d heard so many good things about Complete Care West Yorkshire that I actually waited until I could receive their care. It was really important to me to find a care company I could see myself staying with long-term, one that’s reliable, that listens to me, and that genuinely cares.

Since joining Complete Care West Yorkshire, I’ve been supported with three daily visits: morning, mid-afternoon, and bedtime. The morning calls are especially important, as until recently I worked full-time and needed care workers who were punctual and consistent. The team have always understood that and made it work.

What I really appreciate is how professional, approachable, and easy to talk to the care team are. It was a seamless transition when I started receiving their support. They take the time to listen and make sure they meet my needs at every visit.

One of the biggest changes I’ve experienced since moving to Complete Care is the peace of mind I now have. I used to feel anxious about who would be coming through the door, but now I feel completely comfortable and confident. The care workers are well-trained, respectful, and genuinely care about the job they do.

There have been times when I’ve needed to cancel or rearrange care visits, or even request an extra call, especially if I’ve had issues with my wheelchair. The team have always been incredibly accommodating. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

Having this level of support has made a real difference to my quality of life. It’s helped me maintain my independence and daily routine. I know that my care needs will be met properly, and that gives me peace of mind every single day.

If someone asked me whether they should use community care services, I’d say without hesitation: Complete Care is the company you need.

They’re professional, they listen to you, and they genuinely do their best to meet any requests.

I’ve already recommended them to others and wouldn’t hesitate to do so again. I’m very grateful for the support I’ve received and continue to receive from the team at Complete Care West Yorkshire. Thank you for making a difference in my life.
